Since moving to Inverloch seven years ago with my family I have delighted in exploring this region and it’s stunning scenery and spectacular coastline. Ihave enjoyed creatively exploring the aspects that particularly speak to me.
I have always sketched and am constantly taking photographs and studying the environment around me. Often playing around with my photographic images on my computer but have found more time of late to spread out in the real world and splash some paint around!
I am endlessly fascinated by the play of light on the water and the coastline, the splendour of the sky above me and how quickly that can change. Living here on the southern edge of the continent the weather can be quite dramatic and changable and a huge influence on daily life. My work is based in the natural world and on my interactions and responses to it.
I have been working both in acrylic and watercolour and I am enjoying the inherent challenges, differences and overlaps between the two mediums.
I am on a personal journey of exploration, continuing to develop my skills and ideas and seeing where my art will take me.
Biography
I studied Graphic Design at RMIT which was followed by 20+ years as a graphic designer in primarily the publishing industry (Newspapers, magazines and educational publishing).
After returning to life drawing sessions locally I have regained some skills that had become rusty in past years. That led to my entering some of my drawings into the Wonthaggi Art Space exhibition of “The Human form” earlier this year where I received the “Emerging Artist” award and I have just had my first exhibition at the Meeniyan Art Gallery which I feel went very well.
